The New York City police department finds itself embroiled in a growing scandal over spying.

 

Officials admit the department has secretly investigated the US Muslim community far and wide.

 

In the latest case, New York City undercover police officers have admitted travelling across the northeastern states to secretly monitor students on college campuses.

 

North American correspondent John Stempin has told Michael Kenny, the surveillance has extended to some of the most prestigious colleges in the US.
