Another of the vast amount of television singing contest alums Gabriela Gunčíková, winner of the second series of the Czech Republic’s SuperStar, has one whopping big task ahead of her.

The Central European nation of Czech Republic has never qualified for the Eurovision Grand Final and Gabriela’s “I Stand” is potentially their best chance at fighting their way out of the semi-final forest.

If the Czech’s can replicate some of the dramatic and arresting imagery from the “I Stand” supporting videoclip then we may see a debutante finalist in 2016. Good luck Gabriela.

Four Questions with Gabriela Gunčíková

What are the most interesting aspects about your entry?
After a while I am coming back to my homevcountry to represent us at the Eurovision Song Contest. This is like a completely new journey and level for me because I always wanted to sing a "big movie" soundtrack. I am coming to learn about different cultures, countries and their traditions.

What are the three most impressive facts about you?
  1. I respect ethical values in life
  2. I believe that we are more than just a body
  3. I want to make music to inspire others
Do you have a (lucky) routine before you go on stage?
I usually look around myself and observe objects that surround me, it always calms me down and reduces a stress.

Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important for you?
It is amazing opportunity to represent my country and also introduce myself and my vision to the audience and make them feel better and entertain them.
The Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast on SBS’s Eurovision Weekend - Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Grand Final Sunday 15 May, 7.30pm on SBS, with LIVE early morning broadcasts from 5am on Wednesday 11, Friday 13 and Sunday 15 May.
