Channel 7 reports that body of a man, in his 30s, was found at an Indian restaurant in Ballarat on Tuesday night.
The Indian restaurant, Ballarat Curry House, is located at Bridge Mall.
Homicide squad detectives conducted an overnight investigation.
The Herald Sun reports that a 49-year-old man was taken in to police custody early Wednesday morning and is assisting police with their enquires.
Police said that the table cloths, cutlery and glassware remained in place and pots and pans were still on the kitchen stove at the time of the arrest, suggesting no signs of disturbance.
The arrested man is due to appear at the Ballarat Magistrates Court today.
