Meetotamulla garbage issue come along during last few years through different governments but the fault of garbage dump collapse accept this government said by Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.

A total of 98 houses will be required for the families of the Meetotamulla garbage dump collapse, Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says.

He made the observation while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo on Wednesday.

Yapa also added the Urban Development Authority could provide 60 houses initially for the victims.

The Minister said the rest of the houses will be constructed and will be provided soon, and that the government was prepared to provide Rs. 250,000 per house to compensate for destroyed furniture.

Protest at Karadiyana over dumping of garbage.

A group of residents of Karadiyana today staged a protest against the move to temporarily dump garbage collected in Colombo at Karadiyana.

The protestors obstructed several garbage tractors and Lorries that came to dump the garbage at Karadiyana.

The Kesbewa Magistrate issued a court order to dump the garbage collected at Colombo to Karadiyana temporarily.
