Carlo and Anna have travelled more than 1500 kilometres across two states, through remote parts of Australia to the capital of Victoria, trying to make sense of why and how the 'ndrangheta spread Down Under. In this final episode, they explore how the role of 'ndrangheta boss has changed in the last decades.

Since the post-war period, the 'ndrangheta in Australia has evolved, changing tactics and business models: from growing marijuana in Griffith in the 1970s to more recently importing ecstasy in Melbourne.

But not only has their business changed, they have changed dramatically.

Carlo and Anna go back to the Carlton Cemetry for the final episode, to discuss how the figure of 'ndrangheta boss has evolved in the last decades.
The ’ndrangheta has one of the longest histories in Australia for organised crime and it can't get away with doing the murders, it doesn't need to do them anymore.
Former ABC reporter Connie Agius
Along with former ABC journalist Connie Agius, they also explore the role of next generation 'ndrangheta, and women, who have often been underestimated by the police.

It's also time for goodbyes, after a long journey that saw Carlo and Anna travel 1,500 kilometers across two states, three cities, and one port.

But the story of the 'drangheta does not end here, as Anna tells Carlo as a final goodbye: "The road is still quite long for us to try and make sense of the phenomenon".
