New data on detection rates offers hope for future cancer control

A study by Cancer Australia has found more Australians diagnosed with either breast or prostate cancer are detecting it at the all-important early stages. But patients with lung cancer and bowel cancer are more likely to be diagnosed in the later stages. The data has given doctors insight into detection rates for the first time, and the hope is the information could shape approaches to controlling cancer in the future.
