In the old Soviet Union, ordinary citizens often reported each other to the authorities for criticism of the Communist Party.


In Vladimir Putin's Russia, this Stalinist practice is experiencing a revival - now you can get into trouble for criticising the war in Ukraine, with some people being denounced by colleagues or even family members.
