How to keep safe from Australia’s beach hazards

When we think of Australian beaches, shark encounters often come to mind. As a large island-nation Australia has a large diversity of sharks. But, the vast majority of shark species present little or no threat to humans. Rip currents, however, are considered one of the greatest, and most common, hazards on Australian beaches. Knowing where and when to swim is the best defence against these beach hazards.
