The federal government has announced sweeping reforms of the private health insurance system. The changes are aimed at simplifying the system. The government says it's also a 'very powerful financial incentive' for young people to take out private health cover. It's being announced as the biggest overhaul of the private health insurance system in over a decade. Australians are being promised simpler policies and more affordable premiums. Young Australians are being offered discounts of two percent on their premiums every year from the age of 25, up to maximum of ten per cent. Health Minister Greg Hunt says the changes will get more young people into the market.
