The Turnbull government has been warned it must get support for its energy policy or risk denying Australians cheaper electricity.
The Energy Security Board has published its final design of the National Energy Guarantee ((NEG)), along with a letter from chairwoman Kerry Scott to state and territory ministers in which she warns if the policy doesn't get across the line customers will be denied more affordable energy.
The ministers will meet with their federal counterpart Josh Frydenberg next week for the latest opportunity to sign off on the deal.
He says they need to back the policy.
