The prime minister says he will do everything he can to keep Australians safe as Home Affairs officials consider introducing airport security cameras that can match passengers' faces to social media profiles.

Scott Morrison says national security agencies will be given all the tools and resources they need to protect people from returning foreign fighters and home-grown terrorist threats.

"Our government has an outstanding record on keeping Australians safe and they can be absolutely assured that our government will continue to do that," Mr Morrison told reporters in Sydney on Friday.
