Industry Minister Christopher Pyne says the government's close to $7 billion purchase of long range surveillance drones will boost Australia's defence capabilities.

Industry Minister Christopher Pyne says the government's close to $7 billion purchase of long range surveillance drones will boost Australia's defence capabilities.

The six large Triton drones will be used in defence operations with the United States in the Asia region.

Mr Pyne says they ensure Australia is well positioned to deal with threats to our borders.
