Drake and Cardi B emerged as favorites in the American music award nomination list. Both got eight nominations each, followed by Ed Sheeran and Post Malone with six nominations and Cabello with five. Taylor swift and Dua Lipa were among the nominees.
The list also included Korean boy band “BTS” for favorite social artist. It is the first time a K-pop artist gets to the AMA award list. This shows how influential K-pop became in the American music scene.
Beyoncé received just one nomination for best tour with husband Jay-Z, but their album “Everything Is Love” and single “Apes**t” were not on the nomination list.
Both Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj didn’t receive a single nomination, but this because their albums were realesed after the 9th of August deadline to be considered into the awards.
The AMA also Christina Aguilera first major album after six years “Liberation” or Selena Gomez album “Back to you”.
The awards winners will be decided by fans voting and the ceremony will be held on the 9th of October.
