Under a new Fair Work Commission Proposal, casual workers could be offered permanent jobs after 12 months.

Employers would be required to offer casuals a permanent job, if they have been working a pattern of hours that qualify them for a full-time or part-time position.

Council of Trade Unions Secretary, Sally McManus has told the A-B-C .. it's a win for thousands of casual workers.
Unions say the move will tackle casualisation of the work force, which has been described as an epidemic.
