Coalition describes Labor’s climate change plan as ”just new tax”

The government has criticised federal Labor's climate change plans, which includes a promise to strengthen the compliance upon some of Australia's biggest polluters.

The government has criticised federal Labor's climate change plans, which includes a promise to strengthen the compliance upon some of Australia's biggest polluters.

Labor will allow firms to overachieve on their baseline targets and earn credits which can be sold in a trading scheme.

But speaking to the ABC, Finance Minister Mathias Cormann has dismissed Labor's policy as "just new tax".
