Cyclone Trevor: Far North Queensland communities begin lockdown

Cyclone Trevor has been upgraded to a category three system and is due to hit near the Lockhart River in far north Queensland.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says communities surrounding Lockhart River in Far North Queensland will go into lockdown from 1pm today, as Cyclone Trevor prepares to make its landfall. 

Extra emergency crews have arrived to help residents brace for the cyclone, which intensified overnight to a severe category three storm.
