Delays persist into 2019 for Sydney trains after NYE storms

Delays are still affecting train lines across Sydney due to lightning strikes and storms on New Year's Eve which damaged overhead wiring and signal equipment

 Delays are continuing into 2019 across Sydney's train network after wet weather triggered severe disruptions.

Infrastructure was damaged during the New Year's Eve storms, and passengers have been asked to consider alternative arrangements on Tuesday or to travel later in the day, Transport for NSW said in a tweet.

Crews are working to return the network to its regular service in the hope it will be operating as normal by Wednesday.
