Detainee dies at Sydney's Villawood detention centre

A male detainee has died at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre.

Australian Border Force has confirmed a male detainee died in Villawood detention centre earlier on Friday. 

 An investigation is underway as to the cause of death. 

"We express our condolences to the man’s family and friends," a spokesperson from Border Force said.

"The matter has been referred for investigation by appropriate agencies, including the NSW Coroner."
