Doctor Fees
The Australian Medical Association (AMA) has blamed the government's extended freeze on Medicare rebates for a rise in doctors' fees in November. Rebates will remain at $37 until 2020, saving the government nearly a billion dollars. To ease this pressure the A-M-A has recommended doctors lift fees for a standard consultation by $2 to $78. The organisation's Vice President, Dr Tony Bartone (bar-ton-ee), says the increase could put medical care out of the reach of some people
