Drought, real estate hurt NSW budget

NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet is expected to unveil a slide in the state's surplus forecasts when he unveils the state government's half-year budget review.

A $1.1 billion surplus is expected to be forecast for 2018/19 along with average surpluses of $1.3 billion for the next three years, The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Tuesday.

The government had originally forecast a surplus for this financial year of $1.4 billion, and average surpluses of $1.6 billion over the next four years, when it handed down its budget in June.
