Home Affairs minister Peter Dutton is facing fresh allegations of using ministerial powers to try to do favours for friends and powerful people.
It's now being alleged that, in 2014, Mr Dutton lobbied the-then Australian Border Force chief, Roman Quaedvileg, to try to get jobs for two policemen.
Fairfax Media is reporting one of the policemen is a good friend of Mr Dutton, and the other is the son of a corrupt former police commissioner.
Mr Dutton is not denying the intervention, but is denying any misbehaviour, saying Mr Quaedvileg, who says he met with both men, is bitter at losing his job as Border Force chief.
Deputy Opposition Leader Tanya Plibersek says the scandal surrounding Mr Dutton shows the government is not fully concentrating on keeping Australians safe.
