Federal government to spend $ 7 billion on 6 long range drones

Industry minister Christopher Pyne says the government's purchase of long range surveillance drones worth almost 7-billion dollars will boost Australia's defence capabilities.

Industry minister Christopher Pyne says the government's purchase of long range surveillance drones worth almost 7-billion dollars will boost Australia's defence capabilities.

The six large Triton drones will be used in defence operations with the United States in the Asia region

Mr Pyne says they ensure Australia is well positioned to deal with threats to its borders.
