The Bureau of Meterology has predicted the temperature to rise above 40 degrees celsius in many parts of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

A total fire ban is in place for 10 districts in South Australia as temperatures across all three states rise 10 to 14 degrees higher than they usually are at this time of year.

Talking to Sunrise, New South Wales Rural Fire Services Spokesperson Ben Shepherd is urging people to be careful in the heat and have a plan incase a bushfire starts.
