Forest fires are expanding in Europe and warnings of a record rise in temperature

A heatwave swept through vast areas of Europe on Friday, where firefighters battled wildfires as temperatures rose to record highs. Some authorities banned barbecues, although rain fell in the evening to cool the atmosphere in some areas.
