Former West Australian Liberal Premier Colin Barnett is warning Scott Morrison he will receive backlash from metropolitan voters if he does a preference deal with Clive Palmer.
The Liberal party is reportedly close to finalising a deal with Mr Palmer's United Australia Party, a move they believe will lead them to another term government after the May 18th election.
Speaking to the A-B-C, Mr Barnett says if the Prime Minister follows through with the deal, many metropolitan Liberal supporters may vote for another party because of their dislike of Mr Palmer.

Women and children escaping domestic violence abuse are being offered extra support if Labor wins the federal election, with Bill Shorten pledging a $660-million package.
The package is double the amount the Liberal party spends on domestic and family violence with Labor promising an extra $332 million over four years.
The money will be spent on early intervention, frontline services, emergency accomodation and legal suppport.
Mr Shorten says while the way society talks about domestic violence has changed, the number of women and children being affected by it hasn't.
One woman is murdered each week in Australia by a former or current partner.
