A NSW parliament inquiry has found there has been a lack of transparency in the NSW government's WestConnex project.

There has been a significant lack of transparency in the NSW government's controversial WestConnex road project, an inquiry has found.

The upper house Public Accountability Committee tabled its report into the impact of WestConnex on Monday, which found transparency throughout the project was "unsatisfactory".

"This (project) would be the worst example of a lack of transparency," committee chair Reverend Fred Nile told reporters in Sydney.
