A new study from Queensland's James Cook University recommends individual cigarettes are printed with health and non-health related warnings.

These would range from how many minutes of life smokers lose with each puff to the financial consequences of smoking.
Lead researcher Aaron Drovandi believes packaging has lost its shock value and says improving the quality and volume of information available is key.
He says the warnings are a way to deter young people from starting smoking, while making current smokers more aware of the danger.
