Instagram is in the middle of another major outage, with users from around the world reporting they can't access Facebook's photo-sharing service through its app and website.

Some users reported no access at all, while others just couldn't do any searches or reach other parts of the service.

Downdetector.com, a site that monitors social media sites for user-reported outage claims, registered more than 50,000 outage reports for Instagram within just a few minutes on Friday Australian time.

The outage apparently was first reported at around 2.30pm Pacific Time Thursday, or about 7.30am AEST Friday.

Facebook didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
