Is Your Urgency an Emergency?

NSW Ambulance today launched a new public education campaign aimed at realigning community expectation and encouraging people to ask themselves Is Your Urgency an Emergency? before calling Triple Zero (000) for paramedic care. It comes as figures show a high number of people contacted Triple Zero (000) for an ambulance in the past year to treat relatively minor ailments such as sprains, cough and colds, headaches, hiccups, itches and sleeplessness. Senior Assistant Commissioner David Dutton, Executive Director Service Delivery, said the ‘Is Your Urgency an Emergency?’ campaign is designed to ensure non-emergency patients are aware of the wide range of treatment pathways available to them and are confident to make an informed decision about the right level of care they require instead of seeing Triple Zero (000) as their first or only option.
