Japanese tourist dies climbing Uluru

A Japanese tourist has collapsed and died while trying to climb Uluru. Police say the 76 year old got into difficulty while attempting to climb the one of the steepest parts of the rock.

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, in central Australia.

A Japanese tourist has collapsed and died while trying to climb Uluru.

Police say the 76 year old got into difficulty while attempting to climb the one of the steepest parts of the rock.

Traditional owners discourage people from climbing Uluru because of its spiritual significance.

Climbing Ulruru will be banned from October next year.
