Victorian premier Daniel Andrews is refusing to comment on members of his Government refusing to be interviewed by police.
Victorian police are looking into what has been called the "red-shirts affair," where the state Labor Party used taxpayer money in the form of campaign allowances to pay party campaign staff, known as red shirts, ahead of the 2014 state election.
The Labor Party has since repaid nearly $400,000 to public coffers.
But Labor MPs accused of misusing taxpayer funds in the matter have refused to be interviewed by fraud-squad detectives.
Mr Andrews says the fact police are still investigating makes it inappropriate for him to comment.
