Labor pledges $4b cut to childcare fees

Child care will be free or mostly free for low income families and significantly cheaper for others if Labor wins the federal election.

Federal Labor is promising to slash the cost of child care for hundreds of thousands of families, even making it free for some low-income households.

But the Liberal Party says Labor "promised the world" when it was in government but the cost of child care actually went up.
