Car giant Ford's Australian operations have denied claims by the consumer watchdog it misled customers about systemic transmission issues in several of its models.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is taking action in the Federal Court against the company over its handling of Ford Focus, Fiesta and EcoSport customers who had problems with a PowerShift transmission bought between 2011 and 2016.
The a triple-C says about half of 70,000 vehicles sold had at least one repair relating to the transmission, with complaints of excessive shuddering and jerking when accelerating, loss of gear selection, a sudden loss of power and excessive noise.
It's alleged from from 2011 to May 2015, Ford refused to provide a refund or replacement vehicle to buyers, even after multiple repairs had failed to fix the problem.
