Man, 83, dies following Flinders St attack

An 83 year-old man has died in hospital after last week's Flinders Street car attack on pedestrians in Melbourne's CBD.

An 83-year-old man from Northcote has died in hospital after last week's attack in Melbourne's Flinders Street, where a car mowed down a number of pedestrians.

He is the first fatality from the December 21 attack, and hospitals have treated 19 other people injured in the attack, six are still in hospital.

Saeed Noori, 32, an Afghan refugee and Australian citizen with known mental health and drug problems, has been charged with 18 counts of attempted murder.Homicide Squad detectives are expected to upgrade one of those charges to murder.
