New funding to facilitate sharing of personal data between government agencies

The Turnbull government has announced the 2018 federal budget will include 65-million dollars for a new data agency, with plans to overhaul privacy regulations that limit sharing of Australians' data between departments.
The office of the new data commissioner will oversee access to government-held data on citizens and work alongside the existing privacy commissioner.
