NSW police investigates officer after video shows him telling driver 'go back to China'

New South Wales Police say they are making enquiries after an officer was filmed telling a driver to "go back to China".

New South Wales Police said they are investigating accusations of racial abuse levelled against a police officer who was filmed during a traffic stop in the northwestern Sydney suburb of Carlingford.

At 6.30am on Christmas Day, the officer pulled a driver in his car aside and asked him where he was from. The video also captures him appearing to tell the driver: 'go back to China'.

Calib Strik filmed the incident on his phone, posting the exchange on his Facebook page.

He said it was a "shame" to witness such "an appalling manner".
