Number of Aussie organ donors grows

The number of Australians who benefited from organ donations and transplants hit 1544 in 2018, an increase of 144 people from the year before.

More than 1500 Australians received organ donations and transplants last year.

There were 144 more beneficiaries of donations in 2018 than the year before, bringing the total to 1544.

That comes as the donor consent rate hit a record 64 per cent in the year, according to new data released by the Organ and Tissue Authority on Wednesday.
