Police search for attacker who struck on same night as murder of Aiia Maasarwe

Police are appealing for members of the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the capture of a male offender who assaulted a woman, hours before the murder of international student Aiia Maasarwe in the same area.

A young woman was sexually assaulted after getting off a tram in Melbourne's north, hours before an Israeli student was raped and murdered in the same area.

Police say the 20-year-old was sexually assaulted after getting off a tram in Plenty Rd, Preston on 15 January.
