British Muslims say they feel increasingly under threat in their own country, after a spike in racism following the UK’s vote to leave the European Union. Dateline examines the rising tide of hate crime - online and on the streets.

“Vile pigs”, “desert cockroaches”, “get back to Africa”…

This is the kind of abusive language some people in Britain are increasingly facing, both in person and online.

There was a 400 per cent rise in hate crime in the week after the European referendum according to police.

And terror attacks like those in Paris and Brussels have also been linked to a spike in racial attacks, especially towards Muslims.
