The now 62-year-old man was charged over a 1981 incident where he allegedly raped a woman at gunpoint in Sydney.

He was 26-years-old at the time.

He was committed to stand trial, but failed to attend court in 1984 after being granted bail, and had been missing ever since.

But the man was found this week in Shepparton, 181 kilometres north of Melbourne.

He's been extradited to New South Wales, and will face court in Sydney today (fri).
