Saleem Al-Fahad joined the Arabic program at SBS in 2012 and since then he has contributed a lot to the program by presenting many shows and stories until he became a news anchor at SBS Arabic24 news desk in 2018.
Al-Fahad's experience extends to 1991, when he worked as a journalist and translator for the English-language daily newspaper "The Baghdad Observer" in the Iraqi capital. He also worked in many international media organizations as a journalist and translator, including the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph (with Baghdad team) in 1998-1999 and then with the German magazine Der Spiegel (2003-2004). Later, he moved to work with Aswat al-Iraq (Voices of Iraq) Agency, which was founded by the United Nations Development Fund and Reuters Foundation.
Al-Fahad received his journalistic training on news stories reporting and writing in Arabic and English at the Reuters Foundation's office in Egypt. Later, he became the director of the English service at Aswat al-Iraq news agency (2006- 2007), and then the managing editor of the agency from 2007 until mid-2008. In October 2008, Dr. Al-Fahad moved to work as a university professor in Jordan with the rank of assistant professor of translation until 2012, when he immigrated to Australia.
After arrival in Australia, Al-Fahad joined the SBS as a producer. He also completed his studies in digital media at Victoria University to obtain a post-graduate Certificate in Digital Media. He also holds a Ph.D. in translation and a master's degree in interpretation.
