After an outstanding stint of 38 years with SBS, Marie Myssy retires from her position as the Executive Producer of SBS Arabic24. Following a comprehensive recruitment process, SBS is pleased to announce the appointment of Sylva Mezher as the Executive Producer for SBS Arabic24.

Marie joined SBS (previously 2EA) in 1980 as a contributor for the Arabic program and has played an instrumental role in the growth of SBS’s Arabic radio service from a two-hour program to the inception of SBS Arabic24, a 24/7 digital radio channel and online hub for Arabic-speaking Australians.

“I’m privileged to have been part of SBS and the many opportunities presented in my career as a contributor, producer, broadcaster, journalist and an executive producer. Radio has evolved since with heavy equipment’s replaced with powerful and tinier devices and content available for audiences via various devices, apps, digital TV, digital radio and online. With a wider offering, the content we provided our audiences had to be repurposed and suitable for different platforms.”

“Having migrated from Lebanon in 1975, I saw Australia through the eyes of SBS. SBS helped me feel at home in Australia and plays an important role for new arrivals. I’m proud of being associated with SBS and all that has been achieved. This has been my second family and I will stay tuned to SBS Arabic24” said Marie Myssy.

On her appointment, Sylva Mezher said: “I’m extremely excited and privileged to be appointed as the Executive Producer of SBS Arabic24. Through my journey of 20 years, SBS has provided with many opportunities and I’m grateful for each of them.”

“I’m proud to work with a great team and SBS Arabic24 will continue to be the destination providing balanced and impartial news to Australia’s Arabic speaking community.”
