Shorten: Turnbull is weak for not sacking Mr Joyce over the scandal

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten says the Labor Party, if they're elected, won't overturn Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's changes to the ministerial code of conduct.

In the wake of Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce's affair with a staffer, Mr Turnbull last week announced a ban on ministers having sex with their staff.

Mr Shorten maintains Mr Turnbull is weak for not sacking Mr Joyce over the scandal.

But he also says the main issue at play is not Mr Joyce's affair in itself, but the public-interest implications of it.
