Four young men and a teenager who prepared for a terrorist act that involved killing police officers and targeting government
buildings in Sydney have been jailed

Sulayman Khalid, his co-accused Jibryl Almaouie, and another teenager each pleaded guilty to conspiring to do acts in preparation for a terrorist act to advance "violent jihad" in late 2014.

Khalid, 22, was sentenced to 22 years and six months in prison with a non-parole period of 16 years and nine months.

Two other men also accused of being involved in the plot had previously pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of knowingly making a document likely to facilitate a terrorist act.
