Superannuation shake-up could leave Australians $500,000 richer in retirement

Australians could reportedly retire with an extra half a million dollars in superannuation if the recommendations of the report into the superannuation sector are adopted.

Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg is denying claims from the federal opposition that the government is ideologically-driven with it comes to superannuation.

Mr Frydenberg says he only cares about performance, not politics, when it comes to superannuation.

Australians could reportedly retire with an extra half a million dollars in superannuation if the recommendations of the report into the superannuation sector are adopted.

The Productivity Commission will be releasing its report today ((thu)).

Reports in both the Fairfax press and the Australian newspaper say that amongst the recommendations is one that would enable the prudential regulator to strip the licence of any superannuation fund that persistently underperforms.
