Sydney came second in the world for number of Poker machines!

New data reveals the top 25 New South Wales hotels making the most profit from poker machines are making over $250 million dollars per year.

New figures expose just how much money the New South Wales hotel industry is making from poker machines.

Data commissioned by the New South Wales Greens Party has shown the 25 hotels earning the most profit made close to $500,000 per week in the 2016-17 financial year.

New South Wales Greens MP (MLC) Justin Field says their revenue is coming from vulnerable communities.

All of he top 25 hotels are located in the Greater Sydney metropolitan region, with13 in Fairfield, Canterbury and Bankstown in the city's west.

Mr Field says while poker machines are causing harm nationwide, the problem is particularly acute in New South Wales. 

He says after Las Vegas, it has the world's second-largest number of poker machines.
