Sydney’s population to grow to 6,421,850 in 20 years

SYDNEY’S population is set to grow by more than 2.1 million people in the next 20 years putting yet more strain on the city’s housing, transport and infracture needs.

And the NSW population will grow to 9,925,550 million by 2036 – another 2.7 million residents, according to updated forecasts released today by Planning Minister Rob Stokes.

Metropolitan Sydney will grow to 6,421,850 in 2036, a 167,900 increase on projected 2014 figures while 225,000 more people than forecast will call NSW home in that time.
