This year marks 100 years since the first woman, Kate Campbell, joined Tasmania Police in Hobart.

In 1917, Officer Campbell's role included monitoring truancy, making sure children were "properly attended to", patrolling the "poorer" areas of town, ensuring women and girls had appropriate accommodation and visiting public houses and factories that employed women.
Today women make up about 31 per cent of Tasmania Police and are employed in many specialist roles.
