Ten years jail for husband who encouraged his wife to end life

A Queensland man will spend 10 years in jail for encouraging and helping his wife to end her own life so he could receive insurance payouts.

A self-styled pastor will spend years in jail for convincing his wife to kill herself so he could spend her life insurance on a religious compound, complete with bunkers to ride out a religious rapture.

Graham Robert Morant, 69, will spend at least five years behind bars after being painted as a money-hungry man so desperate for his own religious compound that he talked his wife into committing suicide.

Once Jennifer Morant had made that decision, he then helped her do it at the couple's Gold Coast hinterlands home.
