The head of the Australian Building and Construction Commission resignes

The head of the Australian Building and Construction Commission has resigned after he admitted to contravening the Fair Work Act.

Employment Minister Michaelia Cash announced Nigel Hadgkiss would step down before a civil penalty hearing in the Federal Court on Friday.

   

The minister also revealed to the Senate she had known about the breach since October 2016.

The Federal Opposition's Employment spokesman Brendan O'Connor has told the ABC, Senator Cash needs to explain herself.
